Institute for Legal Informatics
The Institute for Legal Informatics (IRI) has been in existence at the Faculty of Law, Leibniz University of Hanover for 25 years. The IRI has established itself as the first scientific institution in the field of IT law in Germany. Research and teaching are internationally focused and integrated into a network of European partner institutions.
Since 2008, the chair of Prof. Forgó and the chair of Prof. Heinze, together with over 50 employees, has constituted the Institute for Legal Informatics. Hence the IRI is one of the largest research and teaching institutes for IT and copyright law nationwide. The main focuses of the institute are data protection, e-commerce and intellectual property rights, inparticular copyright.
